Well, we spent our first full day in San Francisco today. We're completely exhausted, we walked round most of the city today and have very sore feet :(
Spent the morning shopping round Union Square. Went to Westfield first, which was 4 floors of hundreds of stores. Was good to be inside, as outside it was really windy. Expecting it to be as sunny as it was when we arrived yesterday, we left the hotel in shorts and t-shirts. Wasn't quite as cold as Auckland, but there was a strong wind, and I especially got a lot of weird looks from people wearing massive winter jackets. I guess to the people of San Francisco, 16 degrees is cold. But for us, it was only slightly chilly.
We were a bit underwhelmed by the shopping to be honest. The shops are humungous, a lot of them had 2 or 3 floors. At first we were completely overwhelmed by the sheer size and had a little freak out but we got used to it pretty quickly, since every store seems super sized.
So the only things we brought today was some t-shirts for me & jumpers for Brad from The Gap, and some t-shirts from Banana Republic for Brad. Oh, also some new Ray Bans from Sunglass Hut. Realised when we got here that the only sunglasses I had were prescription. Not so helpful when wearing contacts.
Later in the afternoon we caught a cable car to Fisherman's Wharf, where we only stayed for about an hour and a half before leaving. Not only because by that time it was really cold on the wharf, but it was just so touristy. Only souvenir shops and Ripley's Believe It or Not. We did have some Ben & Jerry's ice cream which was amazing. Chocolate fudge and peanut butter. Yum!
Am thinking we may need to buy a better camera..our photo's are not turning out that great.
I thought this store was great, an entire store just for gift's for your pet!
We had dinner at a Japanese place in Union Square. Was really good to have some healthy food, seems like we've just been eating junk for the last 2 days. Pretty much the only thing we ate yesterday was hot dogs, and then chocolate for dinner! Then today we had ice cream and churro's after lunch.
Tomorrow we're hoping to bike over the Golden Gate Bridge to Sausalito if it's a sunny day, and maybe go to Ghirardelli Square which we didn't manage to get to today. It has heaps of chocolate shops, and the best cupcake shop in San Francisco.
Glad you're enjoying it. Mum's jealous you saw that pet store!
