Hollywood and Santa Monica

Yesterday (Sunday) we went to Hollywood and Santa Monica. We caught the bus for the first time, and it was so easy. It costs $1.50 each and you can stay on as long as you want. So it's a cheap way to get around. It took us about 20 minutes to get from West Hollywood to Hollywood, so pretty quick.

So glad we decided to stay in West Hollywood instead of Hollywood. The amount of people on Hollywood was just insane. We arrived around lunch time and there were just tourists everywhere. We walked up and down Hollywood Boulevard and Sunset Boulevard, and had a look at the Hollywood and Highland shopping centre. I am still pretty unimpressed with the shopping in the US. We've hardly brought anything, just some shorts and t-shirts, so hopefully London fulfills my expectations!

We were only in Hollywood for about two hours before leaving for Santa Monica. It was really hot in the city, but it seemed to get colder the closer we got to the beach. By the time we actually arrived in Santa Monica there was a strong wind blowing, and it seemed at least 5 or 6 degrees colder. We were dressed in shorts and t-shirts so we were freezing. I had to buy a jumper from Abercrombie & Fitch otherwise we would have had to leave really quickly. Luckily it warmed up after about half an hour, and it turned into better beach weather.

We took a stroll along 3rd Street Promenade, which is a street closed to cars with heaps of stores and restaurants. Then we made our way along Ocean Avenue to the Santa Monica Pier. It was super cheesy with a ferris wheel and arcade games, and the food was really expensive. But we had to go for the experience.

It's funny, I have gotten so many complements from random strangers about the necklace I'm wearing in this picture. I've lost count of the amount of people who've told me they love my necklace. A lady on the plane told me as we were getting off that she saw me get on and loved it! People think it's really expensive. Uh, no $19.95 from Diva!
