California Adventure & Disneyland

We arrived in Anaheim at lunchtime today. We're staying at the Candy Cane Inn,  which is a really cute motel. They have a pool which is great, because it is boiling hot in Anaheim. It's about a 10 minute walk from Disneyland, but they have a free shuttle as well if you feel lazy. Speaking of lazy, we saw SO many people in mobility scooters at Disneyland and California Adventure. And not because they were disabled, just because they couldn't be bothered walking! We couldn't believe it.

We set off for California Adventure just after 1.00 p.m. It's right next to Disneyland, but it's not as busy. It has some cool rides, but not so many that you'd need to spend more than 1 day there. We managed to do most of the rides in about 3 hours. We only left out the Tower of Terror because we felt really sick after going on California Soarin' which is a big roller coaster. So we might leave that until tomorrow, or maybe even go back later tonight. We didn't have to wait long for any of the rides, I think the longest was 15 minutes. They had a cool Bug's Life 3D show. It was all animation, and they sprayed water and buzzed your seat, so it made you feel like you were in the show.

We went on a water ride called Grizzly River Run, and we got soaked. Of course I got the most wet out of everyone in the boat, but we dried off pretty quickly because it was so hot. Really glad we didn't go on that at nighttime or else we would have been freezing.

After California Adventure we popped over to Disneyland just to have a walk around but not go on any rides. Disneyland was super busy, but we arrived about 4.30 p.m. which is a really busy time at Disneyland. The best time to go is the morning or evening. We'll be doing a full day there tomorrow. We've downloaded a program called Ridemax which tells you what rides to go on at what time according to statistics it's taken from years at Disneyland. It seems amazing, so I'm excited to try it out. It says things like at 3.43 p.m. go to Splash Mountain, as it knows this is the least busy time for this ride and you won't have to wait long. So I'll be interested to see if it actually works.

After buying this ice cream we sat down on a bench to eat it, and we had a little friend join us. This duck sat right behind us and kept getting closer. We got slightly freaked out so we left. I thought it was actually going to join us on the bench.

The Haunted Mansion is closed for refurbishment for the Halloween Decorations, but opens on Friday so we get to see it before we leave. The holiday decorations look awesome from the outside. The whole park is decorated for Halloween at the moment, so there are heaps of cool displays everywhere.
