Norman Bates and Curious George

Today we went to Universal Studios. I'm glad we came in the off season in September. While there were heaps of people in the park, the longest we had to wait for any ride was 15 minutes, and that was for the studio tour. We just walked right onto the other rides.

The studio tour was definitely the best part about Universal Studios. It's a 45 minute tour of the back-lot of the studios, we went past all the sound stages and movie sets. We saw the Bates motel and house from Psycho, and movie sets from Back to the Future, Jurassic Park and War of the Worlds. There's also a new King Kong 3D ride. The tram stops inside a cave and there's a 3D screen showing action all around you. With the 3D glasses on it looks so real, I kept jumping back like things were going to touch me. They had the scene from the movie where King Kong fights the dinosaurs, and then he starts attacking the tram. It was exciting. They had a similar one for The Mummy, but King Kong was way better.

Aside from the studio tour, the best ride was definitely the Jurassic Park ride. You're in a boat and you go round the Jurassic Park island and dinosaurs spit water at you, and then there's a massive drop at the end and you get soaked. It was awesome.

We also got some photo's with some famous characters, Curious George was by far my favourite.

When we had finished at Universal Studios, we walked over to the Universal Citywalk. There are heaps of restaurants and yummy places to eat. Plus a whole shop that only sells socks!

Can you see NZ in the last photo?
