It's harder to update our blog when we're not travelling around. We've just been doing normal day to day things since we've been in London.
We applied to some job agencies last week, and have both gotten work since then. I've worked three days doing data entry at a currency company, and Bradley has been doing envelope stuffing and general office duties at a games company in Hammersmith. I'm going to see another agency tomorrow, this one is in the city, so hopefully I can get some more admin/PA jobs as opposed to straight data entry.
We've also been flat hunting, with little success. We've looked at two flats, one in Putney and one in Hammersmith. The first one the people were great but flat was not, and the second, the flat was great but the people weren't! So it's frustrating. But we've only been here two weeks, so we're not in too much of a hurry. Hopefully we find something in the next couple of weeks, as it would be good to be closer in for travel to work.
I had last Friday off, while Bradley was working. So I went by myself to Spitalfields Market which was awesome. Friday's at Spitalfields is a fashion market, and there was so much stuff I could have brought. But I never trust my own opinion when shopping by myself, so I'm going to take Bradley back with me another time we both have the day off. There were lots of cool capes and bags and purses, and heaps of scarves, hats and gloves. I'd quite like an aviator hat to wear for winter...
Spitalfields is a huge indoor market, and every day they specialise in different things, and Sunday is the busiest day. The day I went it was torrential raining, but really muggy, so it was terrible. Plus I got lost, which always happens when I go anywhere new by myself. So I arrived home grumpy!
On Saturday we went to Camden Lock and The Stables markets. Unsurprisingly it was raining again! Actually almost looking forward to winter when it will be cold. but doesn't rain as much. It was so busy, apparently Sunday is their busiest day, but I find it hard to imagine how it would get much busier.
Camden markets are great, we found so many things we'd buy for our room when we eventually find a flat. There were amazing photos of London and the UK for very cheap, and lots of little knick-knacks. Lots of things that would make great Christmas presents...which I need to start thinking about soon. Not sure how long it will take for a parcel to arrive for Christmas?
Alongside the markets there is a canal with heaps of canal boats going up and down. Obviously this is where Camden Lock markets get their name, since there's a massive lock in the canal right next to them. It was cool to see these canal boats going up and down, and crashing into each other!
Still hoping to go to Borough markets, and to Covent Garden markets. Then I think we will have had our fill or markets at least for a few weeks.
