Edinburgh - Day One

We arrived in Edinburgh just after lunch on Friday. We were extremely happy to get off the train, after over 4 hours in a hot train with no air-conditioning.

When we left London in the morning it had been a beautiful sunny day, heading towards 26 degrees. When we arrived in Edinburgh it was raining, foggy and about 11 degrees! Was not impressed! I was also wearing jandals, so my feet were freezing.

We stayed in an apartment about 20 minutes walk from the centre of Edinburgh, we caught a taxi there and it was less than £5. Taxis are super cheap in Edinburgh, which is lucky since we did not want to walk in the torrential rain.

The apartment was really cute, the owners had made fresh bread for us when we arrived. Plus there was a fireplace which was turned on promptly on arrival!

The apartment was quite close to the Botanic Gardens, which are really pretty, even in fog and rain.
