Zurich

So we went to Zurich for my birthday and it was awesome. It was all up in the air about whether we would go at all, but we decided to in the end and we're so glad we did.

Zurich is a like a cross between a city and a small town. It reminded us of Bruges and Queenstown. Bruges because of all the old buildings and cobbled streets, and Queenstown, because it's set around a huge lake. And everything is so clean!

Insanely expensive though. Two coffees from Starbucks were 14 francs, about 10 pounds. A Big Mac combo from McDonalds was 13 francs... so yeah, we ended going to the supermarket and getting bread, chorizo and cheese. And it was so delicious, the cheese was amazing. Definitely preferred that to going to an expensive restaurant.

We stayed at a nice hotel to the East of Lake Zurich, very central and easy to walk everywhere. Everyone was so friendly, and they had free apples and fresh apple juice in the lobby.

We pretty much just spent our time wandering around the city, but we also took a boat cruise around the lake and took the cable car up to Felsenegg. It's about a 15 minute train ride from the city, and it's 2,600 feet tall. So you could see some amazing views of Zurich and the surrounding mountains.

We had great weather while we were there too, really sunny the whole time. I can't remember the last time I saw bright sun... I'm thinking it was when we were in America. So it was nice to be walking around in the sunshine. Was not great to come back to cold London and its grey skies :(

There are cows everywhere in Zurich. Literally everywhere.

Om nom nom

I feel sad for this cow... it's looking off into the Wilderness. But it's trapped with a chain around its ankle :(

Exhausted on the train back to the airport

We had to get off the plane on the runway and get a bus to the terminal, it was exciting
