A day at the Fayre in Marylebone - but mostly just a food blog

We spent a good part of the day today at the Marylebone Summer Fayre. The Fayre is essentially a big street market, like one you might find in a small English town, with food stalls, games, a funfair and music in the park. All the surrounding streets are closed off to traffic and all money spent on the day goes to charity.

So it's all fun and for a good cause, but to be honest we were mostly there for the food.

Having realised we'd be out of London for the next three weekends, we decided to spend the mostly grey drizzly day outside at the fayre.

Our first stop was for some homemade lemonade with fresh mint, which was lovely and refreshing and a few colourful macarons.

Further along the street we came across a stall selling Churros. Never one to pass up some good Churros, we stopped and shared a portion between us. Since we hadn't yet had breakfast, we thought this was a good start to the day!

Balloons everywhere!

After further exploring all of the food options, which included paella, burgers, crepes, hotdogs, pastries and all kinds of strawberry goodies, we decided on Anna Maes Mac and Cheese, the best Mac and Cheese in London.

There were a few different toppings to go on top of the three cheese macaroni. Bradley went for the DonMacaroni, which was pesto and bacon and I went for the Kanye Western, topped with little bits of sausage and BBQ sauce.

Both were so delicious, and also large enough that we wished we hadn't eaten those Churros just a few minutes before..

Yum!

We came across this huge bear dog, who did not move at all, even when inundated with pats from passers by.

We stopped and watched these Swing dancers for a while as we finished up our Mac and Cheese, they were so good, but we left when they started getting people in the crowd to have a go. No thank you, I am not that coordinated!

We spent the rest of the afternoon in Daunt Books, an amazing bookstore on Marylebone High St. Most of the store is split into different parts of the world, with a mix of fiction and non fiction books set in each country.

Sitting in a comfy chair with a travel book is one of my favourite ways to while away a Sunday afternoon!
