An afternoon in Munich

We decided to spend our last night on our Austria trip in Munich. We were flying out of Munich the next day, and we didn't want to be rushed travelling all the way from Sankt Gilgen, and then home to London in one day.

We have been to Munich before, during the April bank holiday weekend, and really loved it. So we were looking forward to exploring a bit more of the city. We've been to a lot of places over the last few years, but we haven't had a chance to visit anywhere more than once, so getting a second chance at Munich was exciting.

What I was quite excited about was getting to see the Glockenspiel perform. We missed it last time since we did a lot of day trips, and it never seemed to go when we were passing by. Luckily, we happened to be right underneath it when it started this time.

It was fantastic, a huge Cuckoo clock, and the performance went for a good 15 to 20 minutes. Every time we thought it was stopping, it started up again!

After watching the Glockenspiel we stopped at the Viktualienmarkt for a coffee, and for some shelter from the rain. We loved the market last time we visited, and it was still exactly the same. With lots of good food and handmade ornaments and decorations, it was hard, but we managed to walk away without buying anything!

Most of our time in Munich was spent rediscovering places we loved last time, we grabbed Pastries and Sushi from the train station (the best in Europe!), spent hours wandering around the Pharmacies and shopping centres, and just wandering the back streets.

Munich is one of our favourite cities, and it's not hard to imagine we'll end up back there some day.
