We caught the train from the Cinque Terre to Siena on Monday. The train journey takes about 3 and a half hours. The italian train system is pretty easy to figure out, except that they are always late.
We picked up our hire car in Siena and drove to Arezzo, on the other side of Tuscany, about an hour from Siena. We hired a GPS also, but we really should have just brought a map of Tuscany. The GPS ended up causing so many arguments and stress it was ridiculous!
We arrived at our B&B in Arezzo at about 5.00 p.m. It was in the middle of nowhere, and to be honest it would have been almost impossible to find without a GPS. It was situated on top of a hill overlooking Tuscany, and it was the most amazing place we have ever stayed. The view was stunning, and it was so quiet. There are 5 rooms in total, but we only ever saw 1 other couple, so it was almost like we had the place to ourselves the whole time.
The owner spoke practically no English at all, so having a conversation was very difficult. But we managed to have simple conversations involving a lot of miming! He made us an Espresso upon arrival which was really good, even Bradley liked it and he hates coffee. The coffee we had it Italy was just fantastic, we both ended up having cappuccinos everyday.
The B&B was super cheap, half the cost of the place in the Cinque Terre, but then the Cinque Terre is known for being extremely expensive for accommodation.
It had obviously had a lot of work done, because everything was brand new inside, but still managed to retain the charm of an Italian villa.
Drinking wine from the Cinque Terre by the pool
Amazing view from the pool
The place was even more stunning in the daylight
The B&B's look amazing how do you find them?
