Edinburgh Zoo

On Sunday morning we went to the Zoo. We were excited because we haven't been to the Zoo in ages.

Edinburgh Zoo is supposed to be one of the best in the world, but I still think Auckland Zoo is better! The animals have more room to run around.

The Zoo is on a hillside, a bit like Wellington Zoo. So there was a lot of uphill walking, it meant there were some amazing views up the top though.

Edinburgh Zoo does have a pretty huge Penguin population. They were all sitting on their eggs when we were there. They have so many, there must have been over 50 Penguins.

Stay still so I can get a photo!

That's enough Penguin's for now... let's move onto some other animals.

Kune Kune pigs! But mostly the amazing view.

 Baby Zebra's!

This Koala refused to show its face

My feet were really sore at this point!

Flamingo's are so posh and snobby!

The sea-lion on the right is 15 years old!

Edinburgh Zoo is getting some Giant Panda's sometime this year, so we'll have to go back and see them.

Edinburgh - Day Two

On Saturday it was still raining, but we went sightseeing anyway. Edinburgh is so easy to walk around, almost everything is in the centre of the city.

It was really cold, and we didn't bring enough warm clothes. So the first stop was Topshop to grab some more socks. Luckily I brought my boots with me, I haven't worn them in over a month in London. Not sure what I would have done if I only had jandals!

It did start to clear up in the afternoon, but we did spend a fair amount of time browsing souvenir shops and stopping at Starbucks to keep warm before it got sunny. We picked up a LOT of shortbread. I'm pretty sure we bought about 8 boxes...

We discovered that Scottish people are really friendly, or maybe it just seems that way because people in London are so grumpy all the time. Everyone was just really nice all the time, no matter where we went. Loved their accents too.

Giraffe!

This was an awesome animal photography exhibition by the main bus station. Some of the photos were just amazing.

There's a girl behind Bradley in hysterics right now!

Edinburgh - Comparisons

On Friday afternoon and Saturday up until the late afternoon, it was pouring down in Edinburgh. This did not make for some great sightseeing.

We went for a massive walk round the city anyway taking photos of Calton Hill, which is the headquarters of the Scottish Government. It also has some amazing monuments but it was so foggy it almost wasn't worth it.

When it started to fine up on Saturday evening, we re-visited all the sites we went to the day before to get better photos.

It was definitely worth going back the next day, the view was amazing. You could see all of Edinburgh.

Here are the comparisons:

Dugald Stewart Monument

The Nelson Monument

The National Monument

Looking out towards Arthur's Seat. Lovely to climb in Summer... not so much when it's pouring with rain
